YLC Assists & Common Ground Relief Nursery

NURSERY VOLUNTEER DAY WITH COMMON GROUND RELIEF
Join Common Ground Relief and care for the thousands of native trees in our Lower Ninth Ward nursery! We'll start the day with a talk to learn about the space, wetlands loss in Louisiana, and draw connections to the Lower Ninth Ward, environmental justice, and disaster relief and recovery. Trees and grasses at the nursery are used for wetlands restoration projects and urban stormwater retention efforts. Tasks may include, watering, weeding, constructing ponds/beds, and re-potting.


You'll bring:
- Comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty, layers for variety of weather possibilities.
- Sneakers, boots, or rubber boots that you don't mind getting a little muddy
- Re-usable water bottle and a snack or lunch
- Sun screen and bug spray
- Sun hat and sunglasses

We'll bring:
- Gloves and other PPE
- Extra water, sun screen, bug spray, and first aid
- Project supplies
